Welcome to all students starting in Scoil Mhuire this year. In particular welcome to our first year students, many of whom are starting a new initiative by using ipads and eBooks in the classroom. Earlier this year the entire school was wireless enabled to support students in this project.

Leaving Cert Results
On August 13th students from the class of 2015 returned to Scoil Mhuire to receive their Leaving Certificate results. Students continued our proud tradition, producing outstanding results. These results ensure that students are now able to continue in further education with the majority of students securing their course of choice. Over 16% of students secured in excess of 500 points and this compares with a national rate of around 9%. The percentage of students who gained more than 400 points is in excess of 50% while 70% achieved over 350 points. Congratulations and well done to students, parents and teachers on this remarkable achievement.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Congratulations to Muireann Vaughan who competed in the final of the search for Ireland’s entry to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was filmed in the RTE studios on the 9th of September. Muireann who had won her place in the last four the previous night gave an outstanding performance of her own composition supported by family, friends and staff from Scoil Mhuire. The series will air on TG4 in autumn 2015.
Junior Cert Results
Congratulations to our Junior Cert Students who received their results on 9th September. The class of 2015 produced an outstanding set of results with double the percentage of ‘A’ grades at higher level as compared to 2014. An analysis of results showed 80% of papers were taken at higher level by students and the rate of A, B and C grades achieved exceeded the national figures in every subject, truly outstanding. A particular word of praise goes to Eve O’Shaughnessy who scored an impressive 10 ‘A’ grades. Well done to all concerned.
